Questions Worth Asking Before You Sign

Short list. Ask them out loud and listen to how quickly the answers come.

• What is your license number, and is the license in this company name?
• Are you pulling the permit, and is the fee in this price?
• Who is actually doing the work, your crew or a subcontractor?
• What is the product approval number for the window you are quoting?
• What does your installation warranty cover, and for how long?
• What happens to the stucco and the interior trim around each opening?
• How long from deposit to installation, and what has that actually been lately?
• What do you do if the inspection fails?

A company that has done this properly for years answers all eight without hesitating. Hesitation on the first two is the one to pay attention to.
